The world is your oyster, quite literally, in this eye-catching credit-card campaign

Courage’s new spot and OOH ads show the adventures to be unlocked with CIBC’s Aventura card

Possibilities and adventures are endless when you travel. There is so much to see, taste, hear, do, and everyone’s idea of adventure is different. 

That’s why Toronto-based Canadian bank CIBC’s latest campaign from agency of record Courage focuses on all the possibilities available in travel for its Aventura travel card. 

“The World Is Your Oyster” launched Thursday and highlights all the different ways you can adventure all over the world with the points earned on CIBC Aventura by showing travelers enjoy literal oysters across the globe. 

A short film directed by Mark Zibert starts as a man opens a fresh oyster and offers it to a traveler on a dock. Short vignettes then depict how that oyster (and others) make their way to the hands and bellies of travelers in different parts of the globe.

A family tries a yiayia’s (Greek word for grandmother) family recipe in Greece, a woman tries fresh oysters in Japan, another shops for pearls in Dubai, and another marvels at Johannes Vermeer’s “Girl with the Pearl Earring” painting in a museum. 

In each case, the experience is covered with a CIBC card. 

 

“‘The World Is Your Oyster’ campaign really demonstrates how CIBC Aventura is helping to make our clients’ travel ambitions real,” said Angela Sarino, VP and business partner, marketing at CIBC. “This card is meant to celebrate everyone’s unique style of traveling, and with the points you earn from CIBC’s Aventura travel card, you can adventure where, when and how you want.”

Along with the short film, a series of OOH ads literally depict the phrase. In them, open oysters reveal, rather than pearls, a staple or monument of a major destination—the Eiffel Tower in Paris, the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco and the Churieto Pagoda in Yamanashi, Japan. 

The ads  will be placed in airports and transportation hubs in Canada.

“Adventure is so necessary for our development and quality of life,” said Dhaval Bhatt, founder and co-chief creative officer of Courage. “It’s our opportunity to try new experiences, to test our own perceived limitations.”

“We wanted to create something that was both a reflection of that commitment and a love letter to what’s possible when you venture out of your comfort zone,” he added.
