Bud Light enlisted music video director Mark Romanek (Beyonce's "Sandcastles," Taylor Swift's "Shake It Off,") to direct a spot promoting its team-specific cans, featuring real NFL fans and former stars Bo Jackson, Justin Tuck and Tim Couch.
The spot, by Wieden & Kennedy New York, breaks this week on the opening night of NFL season, and indeed has the look and feel of a music video, as it takes the viewer through a year in the life of the newly redesigned cans, with fans from different teams competing and celebrating throughout the seasons, from playoffs to Thanksgiving beer-can turkey. The ad showcases different teams' game day traditions and, by packing so much in, is sure to appeal to legions of local fans.
