YouTube Captures a Global 'World of Love' in Cannes Festival Manifesto

Google’s CreativeWorks team asked Newfangled Studios to help create an audio-visual “World of Love” that would serve as YouTube’s manifesto at the 2022 Cannes International Festival of Creativity. The piece would ultimately demonstrate how much people truly adore the content they find on YouTube and would be driven by moments of joy and be light on branding. Newfangled Studios went beyond traditional casting methods in search of a wide range of passions and perspectives landing on a diverse cast to reflect all that platform love. These individuals, with various talents and energy, were given creative freedom to be their most authentic selves. Pools of rainbow-colored light revealing art-directed scenes in a darkened soundstage became the motif that spotlighted the individual vignettes while allowing the camera to seamlessly move from place to place, passion to passion. This approach demonstrated breadth and range necessary to deliver on the global relatability of love for YouTube while also feeling personal. Ultimately the authentic moments came together in a look that was cinematic and flexible and demonstrated a true World of Love.
