2015's YouTube Rewind film stars a plethora of YouTubers, many of whom only hardcore watchers of the medium will recognize. Set to remixes of some of the year's biggest hits, as usual it's stuffed full of references to pop culture, from music videos, to "The Dress" to obscure memes from Latin America.
Mainstream audiences are only likely to recognize a few of the stars -- like James Corden and John Oliver. Those in the ad world (and beyond) will also likely appreciate the homage to the Ad Council's Love Has No Labels video that runs throughout the six minute film. In another fun section, a group of 10 dancers performing the popular "Nae Nae" dance routine set in five different time periods: the 1920s, 1950s, 1960s, 1980s and present day.
Unlike Facebook or Twitter's 2015 reviews, this one is relentlessly upbeat -- happy and colorful, it makes it look like 2015 was a party on planet Earth rather than a series of terrible events.
