Canadian Bank Zag Wants You to Write its Launch Jingle

Site Lets You Pick Your Musicians, Select Your Audio and More

Crowdsourcing jingles isn't a new idea (U.K. retailer Waitrose recently did it for a festive campaign), but Canadian bank Zag has built a pretty cool site to help you compete to record one for its upcoming launch campaign. The site, built by Toronto's Jam3, lets entrants pick their lead musicians, backup instruments and a range of other audio components to create their jingle. The winner will receive $10,000 as well as having their jingle appear as the official tune for the bank's advertising.

To drive people to the site, agency lg2 created a series of comedic web videos directed by Steam Films' Matt Atkinson featuring scenes of failed musical auditions (there's a guy who can only sing in auto tune, an endlessly operatic singer, a comedy drummer as well a hilariously earnest spoken word poet.) All of them sneak in a teensy bit of brand information, among the dry humor.
