What better way to show off your agency's digital chops then to release an app for the Cannes Advertising Festival? Tipsy, a chatbot created by agency Huge, made its debut at the annual ad festival to help first-timers master the event.
Developed in partnership with Betaworks and Dexter, the chatbot was available on Facebook Messenger and offered advice under categories of Boozy Tips, Delicious Tips and Random Tips. For example, at wee hours of the night or early morning, Tipsy could say, "Remember, sleeping on the beach is illegal," and the bot will also remind people to download the new Hotel Access Pass if they don't have Cannes badges. Along with ideas for the best place to eat or drink in Cannes, Tipsy included some fun "Easter Eggs" that were good for first-time Cannes-goers. The tips were available in six languages.
To spread the word about Tipsy, which took about three months to develop, Huge left coasters strewn around the Croisette that said, "Get Tipsy," with a short explanation about the chatbot.
