Sweet Shop, Society, Moondog and More Add Directors
All the Production Moves From Around the Industry
The Sweet Shop has added Director Laurence Thrush to its roster. Born and raised in England, Thrush got his first experience behind the camera at Growth Films -- a documentary production company he founded in London. His 2000 documentary film "Fidel's Fight" screened in festivals all over the world. He started working on commercials befor landing in Los Angeles, and he has gained experience working with brands including ESPN, HP, Adobe, McDonald's, Honda, and others. He also has a background as a writer and editor of documentary films including the indie feature "Pur-suit of Loneliness" that was featured at the Sundance Film Festival.
Society has welcomed a trio of director teams and also merged its live-action and animation under one banner. Brikk's Björn Johansson, Josef Andersson and Samuel Fast have experience as storytellers in broadcast, web, infographics and music videos.
Cub Studio was founded in 2014 by Fraser Davidson and Ben Skinner who have years of video and digital experience. They have worked with Facebook,Twitter, the NFL, ESPN, Fox Sports and the IOC.
Pascal Monaco and Felix Meyer of We Think Things are from Germany, with experience as motion graphic artists and directors working for brands including Nestle and Coca Cola.
Directors Matt and Mark Hoffman and long-time producing partner John Beveridge have launched commercial production company Hoffman Bros.
With nearly two decades of professional experience, Beveridge has worked in digital content production as a line producer, agency producer, and post producer. His list of clients includes Nike, Wieden & Kennedy, 72andSunny, DDB, BMW, Adidas, GSDM, BBDO and Subway.
Moondog Films has launched a new division dedicated to producing long-form content and has brought on Director David Godin as the division's first roster director. The company has also named Rasha Clark to lead the division as head of content.
Godin's showreel includes projects for clients such as American Express, Ford, Pepsi, Avon and others, shooting for agencies like 360i, Adam &Eve/DDB, BBDO, Digitas and Team Detroit. His branded music spot for AT&T, "We Need Love," won first place in the MOFILM Cannes Lions competition in 2014. The director also works extensively with recording artists, for Webster Hall -- the iconic New York concert venue, and for the Japanese instrument manufacturer, Yamaha.
Clark will lead the content effort while also serving as executive producer for Moondog VFX,the visual effects arm of the company. She moved to New York from Bahrain in the late 1990s and worked at Blink VFX before moving on to Red Car. She also spent four years as executive producer at the post house Goodpenny. She's worked with brands including Nike, Calvin Klein, Revlon, McDonald's, Under Armour and Revlon.
Bicoastal production company Park Pictures has signed French director Laurent Chanez for U.S. and U.K. representation. He has helmed spots for brands including Benetton, Nike, Lexus, L'Oréal, Hyundai, Sky TV, Pepsi and Peugeot. His directed "Unhate" for Benetton and "Flower by Kenzo." Beyond commercials, Chanez has directed longer form content, including the short film "Forme." Originally from France, Chanez has worked in Los Angeles and now divides his time between Paris and New York.
MPC has welcomed James Niklasson as executive producer at its London Studio. As well as co-running two of his own VFX production companies, Niklasson has over 20 years experience producing and managing commercial campaigns for agencies and brands. Niklasson joins MPC after three years at Publicis as head of production at internal production platform Prodigious.
The Mill has added to its Global Color Grading department, including two new colorists to the New York studio, Damien Van Der Cruyssen and Nick Metcalf. Dee Allen was promoted to group director of color from executive producer of color.
Van Der Cruyssen, who spent two years at Company 3, has worked on brands including Maybelline, L'Oreal and Neutrogena. He graded the Mick Rock feature documentary "SHOT! The Psycho-Spiritual Mantra of Rock."
Nick Metcalf joins from Vision On, where he spent the last six years working on film and with stills photographers to retouch and grade images for J.Crew, Gap and Michael Kors.
