The Directors Bureau is all about the business of cool, from its FBI-inspired website to the skills of its talents. A satellite of HKM, the shop features its own breed of talent, including Roman Coppola, who helmed the blithe young celebrity bikers on Khaki Street for the Gap and has arrived in the MTV major leagues, directing videos for the Vines and the Strokes, the latter nominated for MTV2 Video of the Year. Mike Mills, who hurled a guy off a mechanical bull for Levi's and a car into a tree for VW, recently brought momentum to a Nascar campaign-not through the cars, but via its oddball fans. The chic factor rose even more when Melodie McDaniel, the former Satellite helmer, who's also an in-demand still shooter, joined the Bureau in January.
