China puts Web ads on hold

BEIJING--Qu Jianmin, director-general of the advertising department of China's State Administration for Industry and Commerce, says that applications for operating Internet advertisement businesses will not be approved for the moment due to a shortage of relevant policies concerning Internet advertisements. Those provinces that have approved the business licenses of companies involved in Internet advertising should cancel the licenses, he said.
