Moody Blues Throws Fans for Loop at Hard Rock Park
Ground-Breaking Band Signs on for Coaster
Sometimes I feel like Hard Rock Park is just some $400 million joke that the restaurant chain is pulling on me. Am I seriously to believe that there's a Led Zeppelin roller coaster and a "Mount Rockmore" with the faces of John Lennon, Bob Marley, Elvis Presley and Jimi Hendrix hewn into its face? Now The Moody Blues have announced that their still-gorgeous song "Nights in White Satin" will become a coaster, and I'm waiting for the drop.
According to the release, "Nights in White Satin -- The Trip" will incorporate "sights, sounds, smells and tactile techniques" in its immersive experience of the song. Smells? Seriously? Moody Blues composer Justin Hayward even went through the trouble of re-recording the orchestral parts with the Moscow Symphony to make the song envelope you during the 4-and-a-half-minute ride.
So far, only two big-ticket attractions have been announced, and there's still no word on whether the animatronic Jim Morrison will be back from rehab in time for the grand opening of the Hall of Rock Presidents.
