Director and artist Sam Taylor-Johnson is joining the roster at Los Angeles-based production company Superprime for U.S. commercial representation. Taylor-Johnson’s feature film work includes “Fifty Shades of Grey,” “Nowhere Boy” and the forthcoming release “A Million Little Pieces.” Her commercial clients have included Givenchy, H&M and Chanel, and she has directed music videos for artists including The Weeknd, Elton John and REM.
Los Angeles-based production company Eskimo has rebranded as Keeper and brought on former Tool of North America managing partner Oliver Fuselier as managing director and partner to lead the company. Fuselier will work alongside executive producer Kristofer Barton and head of production David Martinez. He joins after nine years at Tool in which he oversaw global live action and innovation projects and helped the company to win the Palme d’Or award, given at Cannes Lions to the best performing production company of the year.
Director Philippe André has signed with Los Angeles-based Reverie Content for U.S. representation. André has directed global campaigns for brands such as BMW, Apple, Orange, Nissan, Adidas and Peugeot. He is represented overseas in Toronto, London, Paris, Hamburg and Berlin with Revolver, Independent, Wanda and MarkenFilm, respectively.
Emerald Pictures has added Lee Einhorn to its U.S. commercial roster. Einhorn was creative director for almost a decade at Venables Bell & Partners, overseeing work including the REI #OptOutside movement. In 2018, he joined Stephen Goldblatt at creative syndicate Partners in Crime as a partner. He began his directing career at Mekanism, followed by a role as a partner at Rabbit Content. During his tenure as creative director at VB&P, Einhorn continued to direct a few campaigns a year, a dual focus he continues at Partners in Crime.
Biscuit Filmworks has added Molly Manners to its directorial roster in the U.K. Manners' work includes commercial, TV, branded content and short film projects. She began her career at Channel 4’s in-house agency 4Creative where she created TV promo campaigns. Her short film “Here Boy” was picked up by Amazon, and she recently directed an episode of Sky Arts’ comedy series “Urban Myths” focusing on a 1984 encounter between Andy Warhol and Donald Trump.
Los Angeles- and New York-based production company Arts & Sciences has added director Emile Rafael to its roster. The Prague-raised, London-based director has helmed spots for automotive brands such as Rolls Royce, Audi, Jaguar and GMC plus music videos for Jamie N Commons (“Not Gonna Break Me”) and MØ (“Walk This Way”). Rafael has also collaborated with Nowness and I-D on short documentary style projects with subjects such as architect Frank Gehry.
Director and photographer Marie Schuller has signed to the Ridley Scott Creative Group’s RSA Films and Black Dog Films in the U.S. and U.K. for commercial, photography and music video representation. Schuller has directed campaigns for the likes of Givenchy, Versace, Dior, Vans, Converse and Adidas. In addition to directing, she spent six years as Head of Fashion at Nick Knight’s SHOWstudio, collaborating as an editor on all of Knight's films.
Music and sound companies Squeak E. Clean and Nylon Studios have merged to form Squeak E. Clean Studios. The new company will operate all the existing studios of the former companies in Los Angeles, New York, Chicago, Austin, Sydney and Melbourne under leadership from both former houses, with Nylon’s Hamish Macdonald as managing director and Nylon’s Simon Lister and Squeak E. Clean’s Sam Spiegel as co-executive creative directors. Nylon’s founding partner David Gaddie takes the role of strategy partner.. New York-based executive producer Christina Carlo is transferring to the West Coast to lead the Los Angeles studio alongside Amanda Patterson as senior producer. Deb Oh is executive producer of the New York studio, with Cindy Chao as head of sales. The Sydney studio is led by executive creative producer Karla Henwood, Ceri Davies is executive producer of the Melbourne studio and Jocelyn Brown is leading the Chicago studio.
Hey Wonderful has added Canadian comedy director Craig Brownrigg to its roster for commercials. His work includes a spot for Axos online bank, via Cutwater, in which bank tellers turn robbers, McDonald’s “Collaboration,” via Cossette, and spots for Amazon, Progressive, Rite Aid, Stand Up To Cancer, Wiser’s and Toronto Jewish Film Festival. He began directing full time in 2005. In the U.S., his first representation was Assembly Films, then Hungry Man in 2011. Frank Content now reps him in Canada.
Toronto production company Someplace Nice added director Bo Platt to its roster for Canadian representation. His reel spans clients including Nissan, Acura, YouTube Music, Ducati, Dempsters, Sleeman, Bell and Manulife. He began directing as an early member of the Motion Theory collective. Later he moved to Paris, and he now lives in Los Angeles, focusing primarily on North American work.
Filmmaker, writer and photographer Aaron Ruell has signed with Culver City-based Sanctuary Content. Ruell has helmed commercials for brands including VW, Sonic, Serta, Charter, MasterCard, Kona Beer, McDonald’s, T-Mobile, Nintendo, Burger King, Ritz and Citibank. His first representation was with Über Content, before he went on to sign with production houses Biscuit and Holiday Films (where he remains repped in Canada).
Park Pictures has signed German director Bernd Faass for U.S. and U.K. representation. Fass has directed commercial campaigns for clients including Mercedes, Lidl, Bosch, Sparkasse, Somfy and Porsche. In 2019, he was shortlisted for British Arrows Best New Director and D&AD Next Director awards.
Tool of North America has made two new hires, Catlin Choate as director of events and Max Kislevitz as head of brand. Prior to Tool, Choate launched CC Events in 2012, an event planning company that works with brands, experiential agencies and individuals, which will now be rolled into the Tool brand. Her recent projects include planning the Amazon Lockers at Coachella, as well as three New Balance installations at the New York Marathon. Kislevitz was previously head of business development at Droga5 and has led work for clients such as Netflix, Google, the NFL and Coors Light.
Valiant Pictures has added Adam Zimmer as West Coast executive producer, extending the company’s presence in Los Angeles. Zimmer started his career with SBK Pictures, and in 2014 relocated to Los Angeles to join Pursuit Productions, along with its divisions under the same umbrella including Imperative Entertainment.
New York- and LA-based content creation studio CVLT Production has hired Kathrin Lausch as VP of production and client services. She will also assume the same role for creative imaging sister company Urban Studio. Lausch brings two decades of experience as an executive producer working with clients such as Lexus, Puma, Perrier and Infiniti. Her previous posts include executive producer roles at B-Reel, Partizan and Ntropic, and head of new business at MPC.
Sweetshop has restructured the management of its operations in New Zealand, promoting Fiona King, previously managing director of Sweetshop New Zealand, to the role of director of productions for Sweetshop’s global brand initiatives and entertainment division. Kate Roydhouse has been appointed to work alongside Ben Dailey as co-executive producer leading Sweetshop New Zealand.
Gregory Reese is joining Los Angeles-based grading and finishing studio a52 Color as a colorist. Reese spent eight years as a colorist at The Mill working on commercials for athletic brands including Nike and Reebok, as well as campaigns for Audi, Apple, CoverGirl, GMC, Progressive and Samsung.
Animation and production company Laundry has hired Monica Reimold as executive producer based in its San Francisco office. Most recently, she was executive producer at creative design studio Ranger & Fox, where she led sales and production. Prior to that, she was executive producer at Psyop, leading projects for Coca-Cola, Xbox, and Airbnb, and she has also held positions at Tool of North America, Serial Pictures, and Gartner.
