For the third Super Bowl in a row, Amazon promoted its Prime Video streaming service with a trailer for an upcoming original show. This year, it was “Hunters” that got the Big Game treatment, which features Al Pacino as the financier of a group of Nazi hunters in 1970s New York.
The minute-long trailer ran during halftime and was created in-house. Amazon Studios has been hyping its original shows since its Super Bowl debut three years ago, featuring “Jack Ryan” and “Hanna” in 2018 and 2019, respectively.
Prime Video’s “Hunters” trailer was one of two ads run by Amazon during Super Bowl LIV. The other, a 90-second spot for Amazon Alexa, banks on celebrity power with Ellen DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi wondering what people did before voice-activated assistants.
