In Bubly’s first-ever Super Bowl commercial, the PepsiCo-owned sparkling water brand goes full Who’s on First? with a 30-second spot starring Canadian singer Michael Bublé, who landed the role not for his singing talent, but for his surname.
Created by Goodby, Silverstein & Partners, this third-quarter ad has a cast of grocery store patrons, including comedian Aparna Nancherla, arguing with Bublé that Bubly, the beverage, is not, in fact, named after him. In a teaser video released two weeks before the Super Bowl, Bublé is seen on the supermarket floor changing the “y” on Bubly cans to an “é” with permanent marker.
In addition to showing Bublé’s persistent antics, the Bubly ad also showcased four of its new sparkling water flavors: blackberry, raspberry, cranberry and peach.
