CGI-animated animals star in “Unleash your Flamin’ Hot,” a joint Super Bowl commercial for Frito-Lay’s Cheetos and Doritos. In the ad, a bird watcher accidentally drops a couple bags of the Flamin’ Hot varieties of the snacks in the jungle, where wild animals find and eat them—compelling them to break out in a rendition of Salt-N-Pepa’s 1980s hit “Push It.” Megan Thee Stallion voices the songbird and Charlie Puth is the artist behind the beatboxing fox.
The minute-long commercial, which aired in the second quarter of the game, was the first time both Cheetos and Doritos—specifically, Cheetos Flamin’ Hot Crunchy and Doritos Flamin’ Hot Cool Ranch—were featured in the same Big Game spot.
Speaking of synergy, Frito-Lay and PepsiCo teamed up for a joint NFL Playoff campaign, “Road to Super Bowl,” prior to the game.
“Unleash Your Flamin’ Hot” was produced by Goodby Silverstein & Partners and directed by filmmaker Tom Kuntz.
