Discover returned to the Super Bowl this year for the first time since 2015 with a pair of 15-second ads promoting its credit cards.
Just like its first spot, Discover’s second one also used a string of TV and film clips, this time with characters from “30 Rock,” “Ted” and “Mean Girls,” among others, all answering in the affirmative to the question: “Do you take Discover?”
Its first ad followed a nearly identical formula, instead using “No” clips to highlight the brand’s lack of annual credit card fees.
The two spots both ran in the Super Bowl’s fourth quarter and were produced by The Martin Agency, though Discover parted ways with that creative shop in October 2019 after a 13-year relationship.
Discover was the only credit card brand to appear in-game this year. It last showed up during the Super Bowl with a Martin-created spot five years ago; prior to that, Discover hadn’t aired a Big Game ad since the 1980s.
