DoorDash’s first Super Bowl ad came as food delivery services boomed with restaurants shifting to takeout during the pandemic.
Featuring “Hamilton” alum Daveed Digs alongside the cast of “Sesame Street,” the commercial plays up the importance of shopping local.
On the “Sesame Street” set, Diggs riffs off of the show’s old tune, “People in Your Neighborhood,” while infusing contemporary lyrics such as, “culinary artists with delicious cuisines” and “empanadas down the street.”
Grover and Cookie Monster, among others, make appearances as Diggs strolls through the neighborhood, visiting a hot dog cart, the corner store, a hibachi restaurant and a cookie shop.
“Get more from your neighborhood,” Diggs says.
DoorDash competitor Uber Eats was also a first-time advertiser during the Super Bowl.
