In General Motors’ third-quarter Super Bowl LVI commercial, Dr. Evil (Mike Myers) from the Austin Powers franchise learns that he’s been demoted to the second biggest threat to the world—the first being climate change. “I refuse to be number two,” he declares. Conveniently, the supervillain has already gained control of General Motors, so he can help save the world with GM’s all-electric vehicles before taking over the world.
“Dr. EV-il” was directed by Tim Kirby and created in partnership with McCann Worldgroup, which also produced Super Bowl LVI ads for Verizon and GM’s Chevrolet in 2022. (McCann teamed up with General Motors for its previous Big Game commercial, “No Way, Norway,” starring Will Ferrell.)
