In Google Translate’s emotional 2019 Super Bowl ad, the power of language is in the spotlight and reminds viewers that no matter how hurtful, fearful or divisive words may be, the positives of language always shine through.
Of the more than 100 billion words processed by Google Translate every day, “the most translated words in the world are ‘how are you,’ ‘thank you’ and ‘I love you’,” a narrator says in this second-quarter commercial, showing more than 20 language barrier-breaking vignettes in a myriad of global settings.
Created in-house by Google Creative Labs, with media assistance from Essence and PHD, this minute-long ad also highlights some of the Google Translate app’s features including offline and live camera translation.
“100 Billion Words” was one of two ads made by Google for the Big Game this year; the other spot, also created in-house, focused on a different kind of language but was equally as powerful.
