In “Stay Golden,” Lay’s serves up comical scenes of Paul Rudd and Seth Rogen reminiscing about their long friendship. The brand’s signature bags of potato chips are, of course, a constant amidst their shared memories, which include a road trip, a street fight and Rudd’s purchase of his first house. That house, it turns out, was haunted—and this spot culminates in Rudd officiating at Rogen’s wedding to the lucky ghoul.
Ahead of the big game, Lay’s released a limited-edition chip variety made from potatoes grown in soil from NFL stadiums. The brand also launched the #LaysGoldenDuet Hashtag Challenge on TikTok, encouraging fans to duet a video of Rogen and Rudd singing on their road trip.
The third-quarter commercial was produced by Highdive and directed by Evan Goldberg, who wrote, directed and produced “Superbad” and “The Interview,” both starring Rogen.
