Meta’s Big Game ad promotes the Quest 2, its virtual reality game system—as well as the whole idea of the metaverse on which the company has staked its future.
In “Old Friends, New Fun,” the Quest 2 brings a defunct animatronic restaurant/arcade band back to life. The band and its fans find each other in the metaverse and rekindle what was lost after the restaurant, Questy’s, closed. (Meta previously released ads for the Quest 2 leading up to the Super Bowl, touching on topics like fitness, friendship and space travel as part of its “Quest is Ready” campaign.).
The minute-long commercial, shown in the first quarter of the game, was created with Anomaly, which also worked with Vroom and Expedia for Super Bowl LVI.
