Nissan serves up a mini action movie in its Super Bowl LVI ad, the brand’s first Big Game buy in seven years. In “Thrill Driver,” Brie Larson tosses Eugene Levy the keys to her electric Nissan Ariya, suggesting that he take it for a spin. The impromptu test drive causes the “Schitt’s Creek” star to transform into an unlikely action hero as he becomes entangled in an elaborate car chase complete with cameo appearances by Danai Gurira and Dave Bautista.
The commercial comes full circle with Larson and Levy making an appearance at a glamorous Hollywood premiere for a blockbuster thriller titled, yes, “Thrill Driver.”
Nissan’s last Big Game commercial, “With Dad,” about a race car driver’s bond with his son, aired in 2015’s Super Bowl XLIX.
“I, Tonya” director Craig Gillespie helmed “Thrill Driver” for Nissan’s agency TBWA\Chiat\Day.
