In Porsche’s first Super Bowl ad since the 1990s, the German sports car brand nods to both its high-performance heritage and electric future with a light-hearted, heist-themed commercial.
The 60-second spot focuses on an auto race between nearly a dozen Porsches of all different models and years, starting from the Porsche Museum in Stuttgart. Early in the ad, a masked man steals the automaker’s new Taycan electric sports car while vehicles from Porsche’s collection, including a tractor from the 1950s, all chase after it in a thrilling pursuit.
However, the adrenaline-filled Super Bowl commercial from Chicago-based agency Cramer-Krasselt ends in good fun with a woman shown taking her turn as the “bad guy” in the final scene. The first-quarter spot marked Porsche’s first appearance in the game since 1997.
Porsche released an extended cut of its fast-paced ad in the week leading up to the game.
