In T-Mobile’s third-quarter ad, the phone carrier promoted its T-Mobile Tuesdays rewards program while highlighting the company’s long-standing partnership with Lyft.
In “Lyfted,” a 30-second commercial from Panay Films, a rideshare driver texts his passenger Mike “I’m here”—before Mike begins to pour his heart out on a perceived shoulder to cry on. The sender clarifies that he’s Mike’s Lyft driver before the words “T-Mobile is here for you” appear on screen.
The company’s third ad of the night touted free Lyft rides on the Tuesday after the Super Bowl. Since 2016, eligible customers can get $10 off Lyft rides as part of the T-Mobile Tuesdays rewards program.
While T-Mobile’s four-ad blitz was the largest of any telecom company’s Super Bowl campaign this year, it wasn’t the only one advertising. Sprint, Verizon and low-cost mobile virtual network operator Mint Mobile all aired commercials of their own throughout the night.
