After announcing its Super Bowl plans in a lawsuit filed against rival Shein, discount retailer Temu aired the same spot in each of the first three quarters of the game. The spot, which showed an animated girl dancing around and marveling at low-priced products, again ran during overtime. The pricey spots were said by experts to help scale awareness for the formerly little-known brand, which has deep-pocketed Chinese backers, quickly. According to Sprout Social, which provides social listening data, Temu was the second-most mentioned Super Bowl advertiser in 2024 after Verizon.
