Uber Eats used its Super Bowl ad to remind customers that the platform can deliver almost anything. But in order to remember that, the brand is suggesting people have to forget something else.
The 60-second spot from Special Group U.S. and directed by Jake Szymanski shows Jennifer Aniston receiving an Uber Eats order, but forgetting she worked with “Friends” co-star David Schwimmer. The Beckhams forget that Victoria was a part of the Spice Girls. Country music artist Jelly Roll forgets he has face tattoos, and Usher forgets that he just played the halftime show.
Uber Eats’ original version of the ad drew criticism from allergy advocates for one scene showing a man with a swollen face eating peanut butter out of a jar—he’s forgotten that he is allergic to peanuts. UberEats did not comment but removed the clip before it aired during the game.
