After much speculation, Verizon ran a 60-second spot starring Beyoncé. The carrier had been teasing the ad, which was the first major effort under new Chief Marketing Officer Leslie Berland, for weeks ahead of the appearance. The ad shows the megastar repeatedly trying to break the internet, with help from actor Tony Hale, but Verizon's network is too powerful.
The singer used the ad to announce the launch of her country album, “Country Carter,” which became a cultural hit for many brands to tap into.
