Wix made a last-second ad buy, not purchasing air time until two days before Super Bowl LIII. As a result, it ran a pre-existing 30-second ad starring supermodel and coding advocate Karlie Kloss, who has appeared in various ads for the company since 2017. The commercial, which was slightly repurposed for the game, was made in-house and ran in the third quarter. It was Wix’s fifth consecutive commercial in the Big Game.
The spot shows Kloss updating her personal website in real time, highlighting Wix’s gallery features and user-friendly interface.
The company pulled off a similar last-minute marketing miracle in 2018 when it turned around a 30-second Super Bowl ad in less than 24 hours after receiving a “great offer,” Wix CMO Omer Shai told Ad Age. That commercial starred YouTube duo Rhett McLaughlin and Link Neal.
