Lace up your basketball shoes, because 7Up is giving $1 million to whoever can slam dunk on the back of a moving delivery truck. Well, not really, but people hurt themselves trying anyway. So, win-win.
Ad Age ad reviewer Bob Garfield called the Young & Rubicam spot the "Terry Tate-ization of the 'Make 7Up Yours' campaign." (See "Terry Tate, Office Linebacker," the classic Reebok Super Bowl spot from 2003.)
The spot did well by one widely watched measure, ranking in the top 10 of the USA Today Ad Meter in 2004.
It was 7Up's first Super Bowl ad since 2000's start to "Make 7Up Yours" with Orlando Jones in "Show Us Your Cans," also by Young & Rubicam, part of WPP Group.
