With the only Budweiser spot not produced by DDB Chicago this year, Waylon Advertising in St. Louis tells the origin story of one of the brand’s famous equines. Three generations after his great grandfather emigrated from Scotland and worked his way into a career as a Budweiser Clydesdale, per the revealed family history, our narrator honors his courage and sacrifice.
This was the third of three Budweiser ads in Super Bowl XLIII (see also "Stick" and "Circus"), but Anheuser-Busch InBev had a spot for Bud extension Budweiser American Ale teed up to run if the Steelers and Cardinals' championship match entered overtime: "O'Americana," also by DDB Chicago. In the spot, a a packed lounge gradually falls into a hummed rendition of Mozart’s “Allegro.”
As events unfolded at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa, Fla., however, the Steelers' Santonio Holmes made a game-winning catch in the endzone with 35 seconds left in regulation, and NBC proceeded to post-game coverage and an hour-long episode of "The Office."
