Feel like assaulting a koala every time you get to work? "Tips," by Wieden & Kennedy, continues a long period of Super Bowl advertising for job-hunting sites, no less in focus for viewers in 2009 given the economic meltdown that would throw plenty of them out of work. (See also Monster.com's "Double Take" in the same game.) Maybe people should have felt lucky to have a job at all. But the message here is that you can do better.
"We, of course, cannot relate," Ad Age ad critic Bob Garfield wrote at the time, "because those of us in the finding-fault-with-others industry enjoy not merely professional but also spiritual fulfillment -- but about 90 million other suckers started uploading resumes posthaste.”
Super Bowl XLIII was Wieden's second and last for CareerBuilder, which would take its account in-house later that year.
