Sarah Ferguson, the Duchess of York and the Queen of England's former daughter-in-law, has a convincing cautionary tale for her daughter in this Super Bowl ad that comes, no less, on the heels of an economic downturn.
Ferguson was only one of many celebrity endorsers that the New York office of Omnicom Group's BBDO enlisted for Charles Schwab, whose creative account it had handled for the past three years. Other famous faces in the agency's Schwab ads included Ringo Starr and Charles Barkley in the 2000 Super Bowl, Hank Aaron and Barry Bonds in the 2002 game ("Advice"), plus Sally Field, Tara Lipinski, Anna Kournikova and Evander Holyfield.
Schwab reassigned its account to GSD&M, an Omnicom Group sibling of BBDO, in 2002 and did not return to the Super Bowl in 2003.
