HotJobs.com - Gravity Balls
January 28, 2001
Hotjobs.com gambled half its revenue in 1999 for a single Super Bowl spot ("Security Guard"). It paid off, then-CEO Richard Johnson said, by putting the job-search website on the map.
So it came back in the "Dot-Com Bowl" of 2000 ("Negotiation") and here, in 2001, with "Gravity Balls." The commercial, which was created by Weiss Stagliano Partners, features a steel desk-toy ball on a journey for a better place to be as the Mamas & Papas sing, "Go where you wanna go."
Hotjobs was acquired by Yahoo in 2002, and eventually, by frequent Super Bowl opponent Monster.com, which shut the website down.
