Along with "Eddie Rabbit in Concert," "Not the Same" brings Miller Lite messaging to viewers of Super Bowl XV. In this case the vehicle is former Raiders coach John Madden, who reprises some of his sideline antics and even bursts through a wall, Kool-Aid Man style. (The Raiders coincidentally would win Super Bowl XV, beating the Eagles 27 to 10 under coach Tom Flores.)
Miller Lite returned to the Super Bowl with ads in 1984 ("Train," also starring Madden) and 1985 ("Respect," starring Rodney Dangerfield) but was blocked from the lineup along with much of the rest of beer-dom once Anheuser-Busch became the exclusive brewer of the Super Bowl in 1988.
That wasn't the end of the line for Madden, Miller Light and the NFL, thought: MillerCoors brought back the ad nearly 35 years later, for a one-time encore during a Thursday Night Football Bears-Packers game in 2016 to promote the return of the beer's original "Steinie" bottle.
