Oldsmobile - 100,000 Mile Drive
January 31, 1993
The Chicago office of Leo Burnett pitches Super Bowl XXVII on General Motors' fledgling Oldsmobile Achieva, which was sold during much of the 1990s. The testimonials of the "100,000 Mile Real-World Test" described in the ad contrast with another mileage-focused Super Bowl spot, Alamo's epic "4 Million Miles" the following year. And of course tactics like offering more information via VHS tape would fade later that decade into calls to visit marketers' websites.
Oldsmobile's other Super Bowl ads would include "Start Something" in 1999 and "Gap in Cars" in 2000, also by Leo Burnett.
