Cops approach a parked car with steamed-up windows. They expect to find a couple in flagrante delicto. Instead they discover two grungy guys eating Subway's new hot sandwiches. Simple, amusing, clear.
“Parking Lot” -- by Subway’s agency of record since the summer before, and Ad Age's Agency of the Year partly on the strength of the Subway win, Goodby, Silverstein & Partners -- was Subway’s third big-game ad in a row, and went head-to-head with a Quiznos commercial starring a talking baby ("By the Pool").
After 2005's Super Bowl XXXIX, Subway took a long break from big-game advertising, staying away until 2013 ("15 Years in the Making").
