CP&B Global Chief Creative Officer Linus Karlsson to depart

Following news of CP&B co-founder and former creative leader Alex Bogusky's return to the shop, Global Chief Creative Officer Linus Karlsson will be departing the agency, just nine months after he joined. "As part of the recent restructuring, and Alex Bogusky rejoining CP&B, Linus Karlsson will be leaving the agency," CP&B said in a statement. "We are grateful for his creative leadership, remain great fans and friends, and look forward to all the many things we know he will achieve." "In my short time at CP&B I'm pleased to have been able to contribute to its recent creative resurgence," Karlsson says. "I'm happy to see Alex return. It's hard to question the thinking when it's him. I wish Alex and all the good people at CP&B much success." At the time Karlsson joined, CP&B Chairman Chuck Porter said, "My objective is to make the work better. I think we're doing a lot of great work now, but I think as we've gotten bigger, we've gotten a little hierarchical. So my choice was either to go back to work or find someone who could help me do this -- and that was a much more appealing proposition." At CP&B, Karlsson was tapped to oversee the agency's eight offices around the globe for clients including Domino's, Kraft Heinz, Fruit of the Loom, PayPal, American Airlines, Infiniti, the Hershey Co., Letgo and Hotels.com. With Bogusky back, the redundancy was made apparent. Karlsson joined the agency last September and was tapped to partner with CP&B Global CEO Erik Sollenberg, the former Forsman & Bodenfors CEO who joined the company last year. Prior to moving to CP&B, Karlsson was chief creative officer of Ming Utility and Entertainment Group, the New York creative shop he co-founded in 2014. He previously also served as creative chairman of Commonwealth McCann, after serving as McCann chairman of global brands. He joined McCann in 2011 when then-CEO Nick Brien tapped him to rejuvenate the agency's creative department. Karlsson had built his creative reputation at Swedish agency Paradiset and then at Fallon Minneapolis, and as one half of the famous duo "The Swedes," with partner Paul Malmstrom, turned out memorable work for the likes of MTV ("Jukka Brothers") and Miller Lite ("Evil Beaver"). In 2003, they went on to found the New York office of storied London shop Mother.
