Ex-JWT North America President Lands at David & Goliath

Mike Geiger will be joining California-based independent agency David & Goliath as managing partner and chief digital officer. The announcement comes two months after his departure from WPP-owned J. Walter Thompson, where he was president and chief integration officer for North America since 2012. Prior to that he had been chief digital officer and associate partner at Omnicom's Goodby Silverstein & Partners. Mr. Geiger will take on this newly created role in the first week of June and will report to David & Goliath Founder and Chairman David Angelo. His responsibilities will include developing the agency's digital capabilities and strategy as well as creative, integration and content production. This is David & Goliath's latest addition to its leadership team following Brian Dunbar and Colin Jeffery's respective president and chief creative officer appointments last July. Earlier this year, Chief Strategy Officer Seema Miller was also made a managing partner at the agency. She and Mr. Geiger will work in tandem. "It was a collective effort to find somebody with the digital expertise to complement our leadership team and when Mike became available we had to jump on it," said Mr. Angelo, "Mike's a Swiss Army Knife of digital expertise. He has the ability to think about all aspects of digital from strategy to creative to production." On leaving the holding company structure to join a smaller shop, Mr. Geiger said "You're closer to the work and the creative culture because the agency's so much smaller. I'm also going to be able to build out the digital practice, which are all the reasons I took this job. I want to bring digital to the next level." Developing the shop's existing capabilities in order to provide a stronger offering for clients will be Mr. Geiger's priority. Mr. Angelo stressed the importance of timing for the agency following new-account wins including fast-food chain Jack in the Box and Coca-Cola's coconut water brand Zico.
