JWT Promotes Peter Sherman to CEO of North America

JWT has promoted New York CEO Peter Sherman to CEO of North America. He'll take over for David Eastman, who is stepping down, the agency said. "Since Peter joined JWT earlier this year, he has helped spark renewed momentum in the New York office," said Bob Jeffrey, chairman-CEO of JWT Worldwide, in a statement. "This promotion is a reflection of his drive and effective leadership. There's no clearer evidence of the momentum shift in New York than the office's recent run of new-business wins -- Energizer Personal Care, a Google assignment and, last week, Puma. Peter has the right mix of dedication and creativity -- a true JWT leader -- and I am delighted to see him take on expanded responsibilities in the region." Mr. Sherman will oversee JWT offices in Atlanta, Chicago and Canada, as well as Digitaria, Lunchbox, JWT Inside, Casa and SCPF. He'll also oversee JWT's stake in the WPP shopper and activation company Geometry Global. As part of the talent shakeup, Claire Capeci, the lead on accounts like Macy's and Energizer Personal Care, will assume responsibility from Mr. Sherman as managing director of New York. She'll continue to oversee account management. Mr. Sherman joined JWT from Omnicom's BBDO Europe, where he was exec VP and managing director. Prior to BBDO Europe, Mr. Sherman was managing director at BBDO, San Francisco. Under his leadership, the office's revenue nearly tripled, according to Mr. Sherman's JWT bio. Earlier in his career he also spent years at BBDO, New York, Interpublic Group of Cos.' McCann in New York, and FCB and Cramer-Krasselt in Chicago. Like Mr. Sherman, Mr. Eastman had spent years at Omnicom before joining the WPP shop. Prior to joining JWT in 2009 as global digital lead, Mr. Eastman was CEO of Omnicom's Republic Family. He also held top roles at Agency.com and Zulu Network. Mr. Eastman is stepping down to pursue an entrepreneurial endeavor, according to JWT.
