YouTubers Rhett and Link Sign First Endorsement Deal With Wix.com

YouTube stars Rhett McLaughlin and Link Neal, who have made a name for themselves with their popular morning show "Good Mythical Morning," have signed their first endorsement deal. The pair, who also appear in the YouTube Red show "Rhett & Link's Buddy System" and just released a new book inspired by the show, worked with Wix.com on a series of digital videos promoting the web development company. "When you think of spokesmen you think of traditional celebrities or sports people—I think they're called athletes," McLaughlin jokes. "We are not sports people and we are not traditional TV people, but we are encouraged to have this opportunity." In the ads, Rhett & Link, as they're known to their fans, show how they used Wix.com to create their own website. The ads will run across YouTube, including alongside "Good Mythical Morning." Wix will also sponsor an episode of the duo's morning show, where Link gets rolled up like a sushi roll. Like Wix, Rhett and Link say they like to build things and make them their own and with that in mind they're taking on creating a "human sushi roll." "We're from the internet and very much do-it-yourself kind of guys, so it made sense to partner with a website builder that allows people to create their own website," he says. And as they look to build the Mythical brand beyond "Rhett & Link" into an entertainment company, McLaughlin says the Wix deal was well-timed. "We needed a big website overhaul this year to take us from rhettandlink.com to mythical.co with a stylish new format and expanded framework to encompass our other YouTube channels, podcast, tour, book, charity, etc.," he says. Rhett & Link have nearly 20 million YouTube subscribers between the "Good Mythical Morning" channel and their original channel. For Wix, Rhett & Link join a roster of celebrity endorsers that also includes Zooey Deschanel and comedian James Veitch. "Rhett & Link have created a success story that other self-starters aspire to," Wix Chief Marketing Officer Omer Shai says via email. "They've built a fun, entertaining brand born from their passion—exactly what we wish for our all of users."
