Is the Future of Marketing About Marketing to Marketers?
Is the Future of Marketing About Marketing to Marketers?

Not far fetched at all. Marketing to marketers falls in line with charging employees for benefits. –Nutley, NJ
Your piece reminds me of one of the first social media kerfluffles which involved Debbie Weil (ironically, herself a social media expert). When the social media community lashed back, Weil pointed to her client's reaction, GSK, with a, "Who are these people??" You can hear her discuss the debacle here: http://socialmediagroup.com/2007/07/18/social-media-today-debbie-weil/ –Austin, TX
Yes, social media pundits have joined the distribution network. However, their fragmented combined distribution is still small compared to Cnet or Techcrunch. That said, web distribution overwhelms the read of traditional magazines and publisher. No statement about the effectiveness of any medium. We've added you to http://twitter.tEarn.com/ Hopefully you gain more followers. –Sunnyvale, CA
Hi Pete! Feeling's mutual here for sure. I've made refference to you and highly recommend this article you to my legal marketing blog readers. http://blog.karasmamedia.com/2009/03/is-marketing-to-legal-mareters-where.html All the best & looking forward! Kara –NEW YORK, NY
Would that the major brands would listen. Even when the best of the best speak - such as yourself - I find brands turning a deaf ear. They are still clinging to 20th century thinking of ad impressions and banner ads on major search engines. They are not willing to converse with their customers, or admit that - OMG! - established social media folk have more insight than...the agencies they work with now. Agencies are catching up, sure...but those of us who have been here for 4-5 years, and LIVE in the space, are lightyears ahead of agencies. Brands would do well to pay attention to our little corner of the world. We are the market and we are marketing brands... lack of respect and attention will only turn us away... to the first competitor who steps up and takes us seriously. –Rochester, NY
Pete, I love you. Sorry we didn't get to catch up at 4As. Soon, I hope. Jonah –New York, NY
No... the present is about networking, with co-workers. What you may find surpising is the amount of people that work online independently. I don't. I'm one of them. Marige O'Brien Tracker Mo –Washington, NJ
There's another issue here, Pete. Increasingly, people are capable of by-passing any form of traditional media filter and going directly to sources for information. The "spin" they encounter is self-evident, but at least its close to the source. –Grapevine, TX
