Wieden+Kennedy London appointed Ben Armistead to the role of chief strategy officer. He joins from Grey Group Spain where he was CSO, working across the Madrid and Barcelona offices. Previously, Armistead was head of planning at 180 Amsterdam, global planning director at W&K Amsterdam and senior planner at Dare. He has also held positions at MCBD and Publicis London. Armistead has worked on brands including Nike, Coca-Cola, EA Sports, Heineken, United Colors of Benetton, UNICEF and the Metropolitan Police.
Muhtayzik Hoffer promoted Joel Kaplan to executive creative director of the San Francisco office. He joined the agency as creative director in 2015 and was promoted to associate partner in 2017. Previously, he has held positions at CP&B, AKQA and Pereira & O'Dell and has worked on brands including Audi, Method, Netflix, Staples, Nike, Burger King, Apple, Virgin America, Volkswagen, Bud Light and Xbox.
Droga5 promoted Colleen Leddy from head of communications strategy to chief media officer. She joined the agency in 2013, after serving as strategy director at BBH. Dean Challis will take over as head of communications strategy, moving up from group communications strategy director. Prior to joining Droga5 in 2016, Challis was global strategy director at MediaCom. Marianne Stefanowicz was promoted from global head of communications to chief communications officer. Previously, she was global head of communications at TBWAWorldwide.
NA Collective hired Benjamin Porter as director of strategy. Porter spent the last four years at strategy and design practice Sub Rosa, where he was an account lead and strategist for brands like Nike, HBO, Marriott, Herman Miller and Infiniti. He also worked on Delta's sponsorship of the TED Conference and on Comedy Central's "Daily Show" at the 2016 Republican National Convention. Previously, Porter was account manager at Winkreative, the branding arm of Monocle Magazine.
Wongdoody hired Colin Hodges as a copywriter and songwriter for Warner Music. Previously, he was at Campbell Ewald working on Travelocity, IHOP and Kaiser Permanente. He has also worked in television production for "The Dr. Phil Show," "RuPaul's Drag Race," "The Rachel Ray Show" and "Bridezillas." CJ Cantara joins the agency as a studio artist who has worked with eg+/BBDO, Midnight Oil, Pitch and ASG/ Spark! on brands like AT&T, Netflix, Nestle, Burger King and Pepsi. Sophie Rudolph joins as a project manager after a successful internship at the agency. Two kittens, Wong and Doody, also join the team. They are relatively inexperienced but very eager, according to the agency.
Adam Clyne, CEO and founder of U.K. agency Coolr, has launched a sister agency, Coolr Social, with Burger King, Twinings and soccer publisher Dugout as founding clients. Clyne is former COO of The Lad Bible and EMEA head of digital at Weber Shandwick and has been successful in recruiting talent from The LAD Bible, Drivetribe and Havas.
San Francisco-based independent agency TBD hired Jeff Burger as engagement planning director and Robert Woods as senior account director. Burger has spent his career at Bay Area agencies including Exile on 7th, Agency.com and Venables Bell & Partners. Woods began his career at SicolaMartin and GSD&M before heading to San Francisco to work at Venables and Argonaut. He has worked on brands like HBO, Kohler, Google, Audi, Intel, Ebay and Cricket Wireless.
London-based creative agency Mr President is taking an equity stake in First Lady, a new creative shop based in Stockholm founded by frequent collaborators Thea Hamrén and Emil Rydberg. First Lady clients include a TBA fintech bank launching next year, Greenpeace SE and ongoing collaborations with Mr President. Hamrén was a creative director at Mr. President for over three years, working on campaigns for The Body Shop, Greenpeace, Internet.org and Bacardi. Rydberg has worked at Obscura Digital Stockholm on projects for clients such as Google, Volvo and Spotify.
