Spectrum puts creative and media accounts in review

Cable and internet provider Charter Communications, which operates as Spectrum, is conducting a review for its creative and media businesses, Ad Age has learned. Spectrum, which declined to comment, is said to have worked with multiple shops on both media and creative. The list of creative agencies on its roster could not immediately be determined. On the media side, Spectrum works with Dentsu’s iProspect, according to a source familiar with the matter. Independent media agency PMG and Camelot, which PMG acquired in October 2023, have also recently done work with the brand, this person said. PMG referred calls for comment to Spectrum. IProspect, which did not return requests for comment, is believed to be defending the account. WPP’s GroupM is also believed to have been invited to pitch for the media business. Spectrum had U.S. measured media spending of $185 million during the first two quarters of 2024, according to Vivvix, including paid social data from Pathmatics, compared to $394 million spent for all of 2023. The Stamford, Connecticut-based company, which owns brands such as Spectrum Business, Spectrum Enterprise and Spectrum Reach, reported a 0.2% rise in revenue to $13.7 billion for the second quarter. The agency review comes after Spectrum recently unveiled “Life Unlimited,” a brand platform that aims to emphasize how the company’s network, products and services create opportunities can help customers “live their best lives.” Indie shop Something Different created a series of spots (below) to unveil the brand platform. The Brooklyn, New York-based agency could not be immediately reached for comment on Spectrum’s agency review. In August, Spectrum named Simon Cassels as its chief creative officer. Cassels, who was previously chief brand officer at GoodRX, has also worked at Apple’s dedicated creative agency, TBWA\Media Arts Lab, where he helped create the commercial campaign “Shot on iPhone.”
