Ad Age’s 40 Under 40 feature has a long history of honoring rising stars who have gone on to become industry greats. The list offers a hint of what’s to come.
In 2006, the first year Ad Age began running 40 Under 40, David Droga appeared as an honoree. At the time, the then 37-year-old had just opened Droga5. Now, he’s CEO of Accenture Song, which bought Droga5 three years ago. Scott Keogh was also a 40 Under 40 16 years ago when he was the first chief marketing officer of Audi of America. Since then, Keogh has moved on to become president and CEO of Volkswagen of America Inc.
As global chief strategy officer at Droga5, Johnny Bauer made the list seven years ago. He’s now transforming brands and building strategy as managing director in portfolio operations at Blackstone.
Sarah Hofstetter was president of 360i when she was named an Ad Age 40 Under 40 in 2013. Hofstetter was recently honored again as president of Profitero, the e-commerce software platform Publicis Groupe just bought, in Ad Age’s list of Leading Women.
Deb Hyun was honored in 2020 when she was the VP of global marketing at Headspace. She soon after moved on to Lululemon, where she is currently working as senior VP of global brand management and operations.
And Tagu Kato, the current VP and head of design at Facebook, made Ad Age’s list two years ago when he was head of X-brand design and UX, direct-to-consumer and international, at Walt Disney.
Consider nominating a trailblazer who is going places.
