The “Brat Summer” phenomenon—a pop culture movement spawned by Charli XCX’s album “Brat” that celebrated a grungy, party girl lifestyle—was nearly inescapable this summer, influencing everything from advertising to politics. That cultural impact was due in part to the efforts of Charli XCX’s publicist and agent Anna Meacham, who has worked with the artist for four years through her independent talent agency Huxley.
Anna Meacham embeds artists and brands in pop culture
In the months following the release of “Brat,” Meacham, 35, helped Charli XCX propel “Brat Summer” into the pop culture zeitgeist through photoshoots with magazines from Vogue to Rolling Stone and a slew of partnerships with brands including Skims, H&M and TikTok.
But Charli XCX is just one of the clients Meacham has taken on in the six years since she founded Huxley. The agency also represents producer and singer-songwriter (and frequent Taylor Swift collaborator) Jack Antonoff, who recently performed the “biggest show of his career” alongside his band Bleachers at Madison Square Garden thanks to the support of Huxley’s publicity efforts. Other stars on Huxley’s talent roster include Clairo, Megan Thee Stallion and The 1975.
Meacham also expanded Huxley’s clientele into the brand world earlier this year and quickly began working with A24, Asics and Marc Jacobs. For the latter, Huxley helped organize a star-studded party ahead of the Coachella music festival attended by Leonardo DiCaprio and F1 driver Lewis Hamilton, among a plethora of other celebrities.
“Huxley represents an intentionally select group of people and brands who I believe to do some of the most compelling work in the world,” Meacham said. “We build around them, for them and think about how they connect to the world.”
