R/GA has been on a social media journey, working to bring a more human feel to all of its social media platforms, and Ellie Bamford has played a significant part in making that happen.
Ellie Bamford brought savvy thinking to Reddit's Super Bowl commercial
Bamford, senior VP global head of media and connections at R/GA for more than two years, believes that consumers utilize multiple social media platforms and the company should do the same in order to impact a customer’s journey in a positive and emotional way.
Bamford has continued to reshape the agency's relationship between creative and media. As a leading member of the LGBTQIA community, Bamford strives for change and infuses diversity within her team and in the work that the agency creates for clients and partners.
An example is when the agency changed the search experience on Google and YouTube to push true “Black Beauty” content higher to ensure Black people in beauty are more discoverable under that term. She was also a part of the media-savvy Reddit Super Bowl commercial that The New York Times called the “unlikely Super Bowl winner.” It went on to win a Cannes Lions Grand Prix in the social media category as well as top honors in these awards.
Just as important, thanks to Bamford’s brave thinking, the media team at R/GA saw a 50% spike in revenue.
