One of the world’s most celebrated directors, Dougal Wilson is well-known for both his fastidious approach to craft and the whimsical, charming touches he brings to storytelling. This year saw him helm spots for Apple, including “A Little Company,” which depicts a global ensemble of Elvis impersonators connecting through iPhone’s Group FaceTime, and “Unlock,” in which not only an iPhone but everything else in a teenage girl’s high school “unlocks” with a simple glance. Meanwhile, his epic John Lewis spot “Bohemian Rhapsody” for Adam & Eve DDB depicted a cast of school kids performing Queen’s hit song to an astonished audience of parents.
