Amazon Dash Lets You Reorder Household Goods With the Push of a Button

Amazon has announced the launch of Amazon Dash, an "Internet of Things" system that allows consumers to reorder household goods with the push of a button. The system includes branded buttons featuring logos of popular household necessities, such as Tide, Bounty, Gillette Fusion, Maxwell House and Cottonelle. Presumably, shoppers place the button in their homes close to where those respective products are stored and when they're in short supply, they can press the buttons to quickly re-order them. The retailer announce the launch of Dash on March 31, the day before April Fool's, leaving many wondering whether this was just a big joke. However, the real joke's on Amazon's home page, and these reordering systems are nothing new. Red Tomato Pizza, for example, created a button in 2012 that allowed pizza lovers to order their favorite pies with a simple push, while that same year Evian also created its own button that let H20 drinkers re-order when they ran low on bottled water. Amazon Dash is currently being beta-tested with Prime Members, who will be allowed up to three buttons in their homes. Read more about it on Adage.com.
