Earlier this year, Apple tapped an unusual crew of photographers to shoot its latest round of “Shot on iPhone” ads—NHL players. The brand continues that theme in a new spot shot by Toronto Maple Leaf player Auston Matthews, who uses an iPhone XS to capture a day in the life of his friend and teammate Mitch Marner.
The new spot marks the start of the Stanley Cup playoffs. In quick-cut scenes, it gives a peek into the pair’s friendship and daily routine, which includes practice on the rink, gym time and chilling out at Toronto restaurants. More of the footage will roll out throughout the week.
The campaign’s out of home ads debuted in February and appear in cities across the U.S. and Canada, on the arenas of the players who shot the ads. Participating teams included the Arizona Coyotes, Carolina Hurricanes, Edmonton Oilers, Ottawa Senators, Philadelphia Flyers, St. Louis Blues, Tampa Bay Lightning and Washington Capitals.
