Handing out free gifts to customers (and filming it) always creates a heartwarming feeling about a brand -- as companies such as WestJet and Zappo's have already discovered with campaigns that dispensed gifts at the baggage claim

TD Bank Canada has found another way to do it -- via its own ATMs. This campaign isn't linked to the holidays, but to the bank's "TD Thanks You" campaign. TD told 20 people at branches in Toronto, Montreal, Calgary and Vancouver were told that they would be helping to test out a new ATM. But when they approached it, it greeted them by name and started talking to them, telling them it was an 'Automated Thanking Machine.' The customers then received gifts; not just money but flowers, clothing, tickets to Disneyland and, for one woman, a trip to Trinidad to see her daughter who had cancer. The film's vibe is totally reminiscent of the vending machine stunt that, perhaps, started it all back in 2010-- Coke's "Happiness Machine" via Definition 6.

TD isn't the first to transform ATMs into receptacles of goodwill. There was also Aussie bank ANZ's Cannes Grand Prix-winning GayTMs, which dispensed rainbow-colored receipts to celebrate Gay Pride Week.
