Verizon Prank Shows Odell Beckham Jr. Is Better in Real Life Than in Virtual Reality
There Are Some Things You Don't Need a Headset For
Editor's Pick
As Mark Zuckerberg told us this week, Virtual Reality is the technology of the future, so what could be better than a VR game where football fans get to pass to the New York Giants' Odell Beckham Jr.? Well, as this stunt for Verizon proves, real life still trumps technology (for now, at any rate.)
The fans are given a VR headset and start the "game," but what they don't know is that they're interacting with the real-life player, not his virtual counterpart. As they pass to him and see him come closer, eventually touching and hugging them, you'd think they have guessed, but some seem genuinely surprised when it's eventually revealed that he's standing right in front of them.
The stunt, by Momentum Worldwide, promotes Verizon's "Better Matters slogan, highlighting that the cable network you choose and the access it provides makes a difference.
